BEACHES

Beaches

During your stay at Lapa Villas you will have your choice of 4 beautiful and amazing beaches all within a few minutes of the villas, each offers a slightly different experience.

Lapa Villas Beach ( Playa Pará )

This semi private beach is just a few minutes walk through our private forest.   It is located in a protected bay and the water is calm and warm.  We share this beach with a boutique hotel nearby, and while all beaches in Costa Rica are public, this beach is very difficult to reach by the public and you will find this beach to be mostly empty.    The tides give and take the sand and from time to time this beach can be a bit rocky.  Wearing sandals or water shoes is recommended.   Sunsets are magnificent on this beach, and mornings on this beach provide unbelievable peace and tranquility.    The picture on the left, is taken from this beach looking left (south).  The main picture above is on the same beach looking right (north).   The walk to this beach requires a lot of steps down (and back up)  a steep incline through a beautiful forest.

Playitas Beach

In our opinion, this is the nicest beach in Costa Rica.  This beautiful beach is found on the north end of the very popular Playa Espadilla (the main Manuel Antonio Beach).  You can walk to this beach in about 20 minutes, or its a short drive (4 minutes)  to this beach via car ( 4X4 in rainy season).  You can actually park your car right on the edge of the beach making this a very accessible beach every for everyone.

The waves on this beach can be medium size making it an excellent location for surfing and boogie boards.  The sand is soft with few rocks.  The beach spans over a kilometer in length making it ideal for long barefoot walks.   You will often see monkeys and sloths in the trees bordering the beach.  We highly recommend visiting this beach during your stay.

Biesanz Beach

Biesanz Beach is a small sandy gem found on the south side of same Lapa Villas bay.   This beach is a short 15 minute walk down the street from Lapa Villas.  It is a relatively easy walk (over some uneven terrain).  This beach is also one of the more publicly accessible beaches in town and will often get busy during the day. Drinks, kayaks, sun chairs, activities and tours are all available at this beach.    Swimmers can also swim to this beach, from the Lapa Villas beach, in about 10 minutes.

Tulemar Beach

Just to the north of Lapa Villas beach,  in the same bay, is a very beautiful and private beach which is used primarily by guests of the Tulemar Resort.    You can find this beach with a moderate 15 minute walk from the Lapa Villas, through the forest.    Food, drinks and chairs are available (for a price) at this beach.
